I was born in Ontario, Canada during the age of comic books, toy model kits and black and white television. While growing up, I found inspiration around me, from within my imagination to the forest behind my home. I was intrigued by fantasy and nature.

At eight years old, I was introduced to oil paints, and with those limited tubes of color, I painted Spiderman, a fish jumping out of the water and a jaguar, which I copied from a World Book Encyclopedia. It was all in fun. Like many young artists, I drew comic book heroes and Disney characters, until one day my Grandfather said, “that’s pretty good, Stevie, but don’t just copy them, make up your own characters.” His advice set me on a path that fuels my creativity to this day.

My journey began with solo gallery exhibitions dedicated to my interests in the natural world, with these early works now held in private and corporate collections. I later established a successful career in commercial illustration and publishing, which included writing and illustrating a number of children’s books.

I ventured into the field of animated feature films, working as a Production Designer and Art Director. My credits include Kuku Studios/Netflix – In Your Dreams, Pixar Animation Studios – Soul (Academy Award winner), Finding Dory, and Brave (Academy Award winner), DreamWorks Animation – Shrek 2, Warner Bros. Feature Animation – Osmosis Jones and Quest for Camelot.

I am a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the recipient of awards from the Art Directors Guild, Annie Awards and Visual Effects Society.

I reside in California with my wife and our son and daughter. I enjoy the collaborative work in Feature Film Animation, while I continue to create my personal art.
